Ely Elk Viewing Area

Occasionally elk can be observed feeding during the fall and spring seasons, both along the paved highway south of Ely and at the viewing area pull-out. Other watchable wildlife species in the area include golden eagles, ravens, black-tailed jackrabbits and least chipmunks.

RecAreaDirections

From Ely, drive south on U.S. Highway 6/50/93. Elk can be seen on either side of the highway, starting about 6 miles from the town. Elk viewing signs along the highway designate the best viewing areas.
