White Mountain Scenic Road

The White Mountain Scenic Road begins southeast of Pinetop-Lakeside in Hon-Dah, an Apache word meaning welcome or be my guest. The tribe adopted the term to symbolize their new plan to open up the reservation to visitors. The White Mountain Scenic Road heads east along State 260, offering an enriching experience. The roadway travels through the Fort Apache Indidan Reservation and the heart of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Expansive desert landscape and the cool shadows of trees contrast against one another to give a memorable experience to any traveler.
