Carpenter Bypass Trail System

Whether you rock your lycra loud and proud, don moldy flannel, or track frequent flier miles, you are bound to find stuff to post on your favorite social media account at this popular trail system. Here you will find a 19 mile network of trails located less than a 30 minute drive from Eugene, Oregon. For mountain bikers, the trails were designed to feature significant trail twisting, with narrow turns, steep downhill stretches, and trail features such as rock gardens, jumps and berms. While the most predominant use of the trails is from mountain bikers, equestrian riders, trail runners, and hikers enjoy the trails. The trails are exclusive to non-motorized traffic.

Know Before You Go:

  • Open Hours: Year-round.
  • Accessibility: Riders use Carpenter Bypass Road to access trails.
  • Pets are allowed on leash (max. 6 feet) in the parking lot.
  • Wet trails are susceptible to damage. When trails are wet, please consider other riding options.
  • Point of Interest:

    There are several local wineries along the scenic drive to the trail system.

    From Eugene, follow Bailey Hill Road, which becomes Lorane Highway and travel 12.5 miles. Turn left onto Territorial Road and continue 6 miles to the town of Lorane. Turn right onto Siuslaw River Road and proceed about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto BLM road 20-5- 14.1, Carpenter Bypass Road, and continue almost 1 mile to a graveled north Staging Area on your left side. A more centralized, south Staging Area is another 1.5 miles up the road.
