Camp ten miles from the Washington Monument! Greenbelt Park is located in suburban Greenbelt, Maryland just ten miles from the Washington D.C. attractions. Visit to enjoy affordable camping, peaceful surroundings in an urban forest, and National Park Service hospitality. Greenbelt Park has a 172 site campground, nine miles of trails (Trails are temporarily closed) and three picnic areas.

Off I-95 South Take Exit 23 Route 201 Kenilworth Avenue South(toward Bladensburg). (this will be a left). Drive on Kenilworth Avenue (Route 201). Once crossing over I-95, you will see sign for Route 193 Greenbelt Road. Veer right to Take Route 193 East. Take a left on Greenbelt Road . (Greenbelt Road is Route 193 and is an overpass over Route 201) The park entrance is a quarter mile on the right hand side.

Overview

Greenbelt Campground is an urban oasis just 10 miles from Washington, D.C. This beautiful, wooded park is known for its safety, affordability, peaceful surroundings and National Park Service hospitality. Each campsite includes a picnic table and combination grill/campfire ring. Campsites have been improved using your camping fees to include new picnic tables and grills.
The campground does not have water or electric hookups (primitive campground).
A Loop is a Scout loop, youth or group Loop only.

There is a RV limit of 30 feet (including tow vehicle) in B Loop and limited availabilty for larger vehicles (35 feet including tow vehicle) in D loop.

Recreation

The trails are temporarily closed.

Ten miles of hiking trails meander through Greenbelt Park, including Perimeter, Azalea, Dogwood and Blueberry Trails.
Sweetgum Picnic Area is located 1.5 miles from the campground, with playground equipment and public picnic tables.

Facilities

This quiet campground has paved roads and parking spurs, which provide good access for cars and RVs alike.


The site contains flush toilets, drinking water, showers and a dump station. Each campsite has a picnic table and a NEW fire ring.
For scout groups, please reserve the "Youth/Scout/Organized Groups Only", which is open year-round.

Natural Features

Situated in suburban Maryland, Greenbelt Campground is forested with a pleasant mix of pine, oak and maple trees, which give way to a colorful autumn season. Mountain Laurel blooms throughout the park in May.

Still Creek flows through the site, where deer and chipmunks are commonly seen.

Overview

Picnic areas will be available for booking six months ahead.
Greenbelt Park is an urban oasis just 10 miles from Washington, D.C. This beautiful, wooded park is known for its peaceful surroundings and National Park Service hospitality.

Recreation

Ten miles of hiking trails meander through Greenbelt Park, including Perimeter, Azalea, Dogwood and Blueberry Trails. Sweetgum Picnic Area is located near the entrance of the park with playground equipment and public picnic tables. The Sweetgum PIcnic Area is on a first-come, first-served basis limited to groups of 24 people or less. The Holly Picnic Area is 1/2 mile walk to playground and open field.

Facilities

Greenbelt Park has two picnic areas available, ranging in capacity from 25-150 people per site, with restrooms, picnic tables, and barbeque grills. Park rangers, maintenance personnel and park police are on site if needed.

Ranger Station Campground
List of Campsites

Ranger Station near the campground is two miles from the park headquarters and park entrance. Ranger station is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m.
