Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument


This area memorializes the US Army's 7th Cavalry and the Lakotas and Cheyennes in one of the Indian's last armed efforts to preserve their way of life. Here on June 25 and 26 of 1876, 263 soldiers, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer and attached personnel of the US Army, died fighting several thousand Lakota and Cheyenne warriors.

Little Bighorn Battlefield Visitor's Center Visitor Center
The Little Bighorn Battlefield Visitor's Center details the happenings of the Battle of the Little Bighorn as well as provides information on the Custer National Cemetery. There is a Museum and Bookstore in the building as well as a covered patio area where ranger talks are held daily in the summer. Visitors can access this Visitor's Center during the Monument's open hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm in the summer and 8:00am to 4:30pm the rest of the year.
