The National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa supports one of the greatest diversity of marine life in the national marine sanctuary system, including a wide variety of coral and other invertebrates, fishes, turtles, marine mammals and marine plants. The sanctuary also protects extensive coral reefs, deep water reefs, hydrothermal vent communities, rare marine archaeological resources and encompasses important fishing grounds. Recreational activities such as diving, snorkeling, and fishing can be enjoyed at the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa.
