Burnsville Lake
There are numerous recreation opportunities at Burnsville Lake, including excellent hunting. At the Burnsville Lake Dam and the Riffle Run Campground/Day-Use/Boat Launch, you can take advantage of camping at one of sixty sites (non-reservable, electric & non-electric), take a picnic or plan a family reunion at one of the four reservable shelters. Boat rentals and storage are available at the marina. Take a trip back in time at the Bulltown Historical Village to get a taste of pioneer life during the Civil War Era.

To visit the Burnsville Lake Dam and the Riffle Run Campground/Day-Use/Boat Launch take exit 79 from Interstate 79 then old Rt. 5 east approximately 3 miles to campground. To visit the Bulltown Historical Area and the Bulltown Campground/Day-se/Beach/Boat Launch take exit 67 off of I-79, then Rt. 19 North approximately 13 miles.

Head to Bulltown Campground to experience the scenery and historic significance of this central West Virginia region. The large campground is on the edge of Burnsville Lake, just beside the Bulltown Historic Area. This spot occupies the site of a Civil War battle, where reenactments of the historic event take place twice a year.Recreation

The campground offers nearly 200 campsites. Playgrounds and showers on located within each loop. A boat ramp is within the campground and a beach is about a mile away.Natural Features
The campground is near the headwaters of Burnsville Lake on the Little Kanawha River. The hilly, forested region lies at the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, just west of the Allegheny Plateau.Nearby Attractions

Burnsville Lake Shelters create a wonderful setting for daytime gatherings on Burnsville Lake. The six group picnic shelters are scattered across two ends of the lake. Shelters 1-4 are near the dam while shelters 5 and 6 are upstream near the inflow from the Little Kanawha River.Recreation
The primary pastime at the picnic shelters, naturally, is picnicking. Activities like biking, hiking and fishing are also quite popular.Facilities
The shelters are equipped with drinking water and a large charcoal grill; shelters 3 and 5 have electricity. All shelters are close to playgrounds and flush toilets. Groups with young children may prefer shelters 2, 3, 4 and 5, as they are nearest to playground facilities.Natural Features
The reservoir was built in 1978 for flood control. Its beautiful setting between the Allegheny Mountains and Allegheny Plateau create a lush backdrop of steep hills.Nearby Attractions
