Lake Barkley was named for former Vice-President Alben Barkley. Land Between the Lakes (US Forest Service) and Fort Donelson National Military Park are on Lake Barkley?s western shore.

Important Information
In early summer, water is available from a spring 1/4 mile north of the camp. This water source is dry in late summer and autumn. Carry your own water. This campsite may be covered in snow in early summer, if you plan an early season trip be prepared to camp on snow.

Eagle nests can be spotted throughout the grounds, and its not unlikely for visitors to encounter deer and other wildlife. A designated swimming beach and a boat ramp help campers enjoy the lake. Picnic pavilions and a playground create a perfect setting for a party or family get-together. For group camping, several sites surrounding the pavilion can be reserved, and a fishing float nearby allows groups to go out on the lake together.
Electric hook-ups, showers and flush restrooms create a comfortable camping experience.
