Walter F. George Lake
There are 13 Corps of Engineers day use parks and 4 campgrounds on Walter F. George Lake, a great place to camp, fish, boat and picnic. Enjoy the natural beauty of the lake and the Chattahoochee River, as well as the gracious antebellum mansions located in nearby historic towns, such as Eufaula, Alabama and Cuthbert, Georgia. The lake, sometimes referred to as Lake Eufaula, extends 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River and borders the States of Alabama and Georgia. With 640 miles of shoreline, Walter F. George Lake offers plenty of room for all of your favorite camping, outdoor, and water-related activities.

Leave Hwy 395 at Toms Place. Follow Rock Creek Road to the pack station at Rock Creek Lake where there is paved parking.

Hilton Lakes Area:
- No campfires at Hilton Creek Lakes, Davis Lake or Hilton Creek; and no campfires above 10,000 ft. look at USFS Webpage for campfire restriction maps.
- Food and refuse must be stored so that animals cannot get into the food or trash.
- Check the area map for the correct trail name. Trips going toward Mono Pass, Tamarack Lakes or Little Lakes Valley are a different reservation.
- John Muir Wilderness Regulations Apply
- Deadline: Reservation will be canceled unless the permit pick up instructions are completed before the deadline. Instructions are in the confirmation letter.
- Only the group leader or alternate leader may pick up the permit; the person picking up the permit must be going on the wilderness trip.
- BE SURE YOUR DATES AND TRAIL ARE CORRECT The entire group must start on the trail on the entry date listed. Reservations cannot be changed or transferred

Long Description
Starting near Rock Creek Lake, the Hilton Lakes Trail takes hikers through a forest of whitebark and lodgepole pines before it enters a basin with many lakes, including Hilton and Davis Lakes. Other trails in Rock Creek Canyon have separate quotas. Refer to the area map for trail names.

The Chattahoochie River lakes are an angler's paradise, where largemouth bass, white bass, hybrids, crappie, channel catfish and bream are found. The lake's 640 miles of shoreline offer many excellent locations for bank fishing, and a boat ramp is conveniently located nearby.The lake and its surrounding forests provide a great locale for hiking, hunting or simply observing wildlife.
Facilities
The campground offers 77 sites with electric and water hookups. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, a dump station and fish cleaning station. A group picnic shelter is available on a first come, first served basis.Natural Features

Visitors come to relax and play among the natural beauty of the area.The lands surrounding the lake are forested with dense stands of mixed hardwoods. A wide variety of wildlife is commonly seen, including waterfowl, deer, squirrels, rabbits, eagles, hawks, bobcats and dozens of species of songbirds.
