B. Everett Jordan Lake
B. E. Jordan Dam and Lake is located near the center of North Carolina with a large population base in a 75-mile radius of the project. It is a major attraction for recreation seekers with facilities such as campsites, picnic areas, beaches, nature trails, etc. available. The N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation operates the majority of the recreation areas. Wildlife subimpoundments for waterfowl management are leased to the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission who manage the fields to provide wildlife habitat and wildlife-oriented recreation.

Direction
From Bishop gowest on Line Street (Hwy 168). Follow Hwy 168 in the direction of South Lake. At the end of the road past the boat ramp, a paved parking lot has day use and some overnight parking spots. Additional overnight parking is allowed roadside near Parchers Resort.

Bishop Pass Area:
- No campfires above 10,000 ft.
- Bear containers are required for storage of food and trash.
- Check the area map for the correct trail name. Trips going toward Treasure Lakes are a different reservation.
- The Chocolate Lake Loop is not recommended for stock.
- John Muir Wilderness regulations apply.
- Sequoia and Kings Canyon wilderness regulations apply if entering the National Parks.(includes Cross Country travel to Dusy Basin / Palisade Basin areas; no night box permit pickup)
- Deadline: Reservation will be canceled unless the permit pick up instructions are completed before the deadline. Instructions are in the confirmation letter.
- Only the group leader or alternate leader may pick up the permit; the person picking up the permit must be going on the wilderness trip.
- BE SURE YOUR DATES AND TRAIL ARE CORRECT The entire group must start on the trail on the entry date listed. Reservations cannot be changed or transferred.

Long Description
Starting at beautiful South Lake, the Bishop Pass Trail climbs the valley between the Inconsolable Range and Hurd Peak. The trail ascends aseriesof granite benches, each holding lakes and ponds. The highest lakes are tinted with glacial melt at the foot of Mt.Thompson and Mt.Goode. Over Bishop Pass is the backcountry of Kings Canyon National Park, with the trail continuing to Dusy Basin and LeConte Canyon where it meets the John Muir Trail. A side trail--the Chocolate Lake Loop--provides a popular day hike around Chocolate Peak, rejoining the main trail at Long Lake. TheChocolateLake Loop is not recommended for stock. This is an active bear area so you must use bear resistant food storage containers to secure your food and refuse. Separate quotas apply to other area trails. Please refer to the area map for trail names.
