Sardis Lake

Sardis Lake is located five miles north of Clayton, Oklahoma, along Oklahoma Highway 2 in beautiful southeastern Oklahoma. The lake covers 14,360 acres, with 117 miles of shoreline, and offers many opportunities for every diversification of outdoor recreation. There are three campgrounds located around the lake offering various facilities including general hookups, restrooms, showering facilities, swim beach and fishing docks. The lake also has facilities for group camping and picnic shelters equipped with tables, electricity and large outdoor cooking grills. Although Sardis Lake is known for producing several of Oklahoma's largest bass, the lake also provides fishermen excellent opportunities to catch crappie, catfish, and walleye. Come join us at the western tip of the Ouachita Mountain Range.

Overview

Journey to southeastern Oklahoma for a picturesque getaway at Sardis Lake, where Potato Hills Central Campground offers fresh-air campsites shaded by blackjack oak, post oak and pines.

Recreation

The lake is a popular fishing destination, with some of Oklahoma's largest species of prize bass. Catfish, walleye and crappie also reside in the lake.

Other water sports include jet skiing, swimming and canoeing; hiking is also a popular pastime.

Facilities

All sites come with electric hookups. Young kids will enjoy the playground and everyone can make use of the accessible fishing dock.

A hiking trail is reachable from the campground, and hot showers are a welcoming amenity at the end of an eventful day.

Natural Features

The waters of Sardis Lake are sourced from Jackfork Creek, a tributary of the Kiamichi River. Surrounding terrain extends out into the rolling foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.

More than 8,000 acres of public land around Sardis lake is available for wildlife watching and hunting. Additional camping is also available at Potato Hills South Campground.

Boat ramps are available for visitors, as well as a picnic area and playground that provide an ideal setting for parties or family get-togethers.

Sardis Lake is a reservoir fed by the waters of Jackfork Creek, a tributary of the Kiamichi river in the scenic foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.

Hunters and wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the public hunting and wildlife propagation areas near Sardis Lake, which have been set aside on more than 8,000 acres of undeveloped land.
